2021 recap
After a too-long break from general crafting, I fell back into knitting in a good way. In just a few short months, I knit 7 projects from start to finish and finished up 3 work-in-progress projects: one started in 2013, another in 2019, and the last started in 2020.
What has been evident to me most after the too-long break was how much more of a confident knitter I am. I still fumble and make mistakes, I still don’t understand every instruction or every technique, but some things that used to cause panic or distress I’ve been able to work through with the thinking “I can do this.” That makes a big difference.
Here are some photos (with brief descriptions) of those 10 projects from 2021.
Bankhead Hat #2 – Bankhead Hat #1 was knit back in 2019 I think. It was too big for the recipient so it sat in my yarn supplies until one day in September 2021 I took it apart (frogged it) and four days later, we had Bankhead Hat #2 which fits nearly perfectly and is worn by the recipient often! Huzzah!
Autumn Shawl – Started this early in 2020, but for all the reasons it just wasn’t the time to concentrate on lace knitting. Finished it up in October 2021. Love the yarn and colour so much!
Robin’s Egg Blue Cowl – First mobius scarf/cowl. very interesting. a quick, satisfying little knit (no pattern)
Noro Striped Scarf – It’s an understatement to say knitting with Noro yarn is sheer, absolute pleasure. Was really chuffed with how this turned out.

16 Triangles – Another Noro yarn project. This one even more amazing and fun to work on than my previous Noro yarn projects! Really happy with how this turned out!

Afterthought Heel socks – These were started in 2013. Unbelievably, I knit an entire sock and then stopped. So, nothing for it but to knit the second one. Years later! – Though not technically a “true afterthought heel,” this pattern places waste yarn at the heel and you pick up those stitches latter and finish the heel in a more toe-like manner using the Kitchener stitch to bind off.
