Fillongley Provincial Park

Two recordings from a late-summer visit to Fillongley Provincial Park.

1. Waves

2. Crickets (and faintly in the background, Killdeer)

This was our second visit to Fillongley Provincial Park. Last time we explored the trails through the forested Little George Creek trail above the campground in late spring/early summer.

This time, I recorded some of the sounds down at the beach as the creek was pretty dry after the long, dry, and hot summer.

In the waters of the Salish Sea we could see and hear a number of birds, including loons. I wasn’t able to get a good recording of their calls, but there’s something so beautiful and haunting in their yodelling wail. There were also grebe’s, Harlequin Ducks, Killdeer, and different gulls. The water was calm for most of the time we were there.
