Kitty Coleman Woodland gardens – a sanctuary

Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens is a wonderful sanctuary north of Comox. I found this garden during my 2016 bike tour, and I have now visited the garden three more times. Every time I’m reminded what a beautiful and peaceful place this is.

This was, however, the first time I have visited when the Rhododendrons are in bloom, and it’s definitely a great time to visit. It has been magical every time I’ve been to the gardens, but seeing the Rhododendrons in bloom was just that little bit extra magical. This spring has been very rainy and grey and the forest is lush and full of natural beauty.

This short recording was captured using my cellphone. Besides the lovely wind chimes you can hear Warbling Vireo, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, and Pacific Wren.

More photographs can be viewed in the Photography gallery.

This recording, also captured with my cellphone, features a Yellow-rumped Warbler, a Warbling Vireo, a Brown Creeper (maybe), a Black-throated Gray Warbler, and maybe a Pacific-slope Flycatcher.
