SEASHORE SOUNDS OF UCLUELET LIGHTHOUSE LOOP
Three quick recordings made during a walk around the 2.6km “Lighthouse Loop” section of the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet, British Columbia.
1. Crashing Waves, Buoy Y42
2. Crashing Waves, Buoy Y42, Buoy Y43, and Gulls
3. Hermit Thrush
There are two buoys in the waters off of the trail and on days with wind and waves you can not only see the buoys but you can hear them.
Carolina Channel light and whistle buoy Y42 is known to some locals as “The Mooing Buoy” and you can hear it in all three recordings.
Carolina Passage Inner light and bell buoy Y43 can be heard in the second recording, along with the patter of rain and the call of gulls.
The recording of the Hermit Thrush was an exciting bonus nearing sunset and the end of our walk. We didn’t get to see one, but you can hear more than one singing – one in the distance and one closer by. Magical!
